game design – RPG Maker

At this point, I’m just trying to maintain motivation and focus. This was a four-minute video which gives a good overview of RPG Maker. It has me thinking this will be the first game engine I use. It fits what I have in mind. A lot of these engines have free versions, but it’s limited in how much or how long you can use it. I need to check the pricing, still, but it seems worth it off the bat. I give this video a 7 out of 10.
I give this six-minute video a 10/10 for what I need. There was humor, good explanation, and it made the project seem worthwhile. This is the first in a series of 30 other videos I’ve yet to watch. Right below, I have a button where the remainder of this playlist can be found, plus other material…
Good video! 8/10. “It makes simple things even simpler, but it also makes complicated things even more complicated…”
Another 10/10 for what I need. Also, this video is the first in a series. The 5 types of games you can make using RPG Maker are: 1. RPG 2. Visual Novel 3. 2D Side Scroller 4. Story Rich 5. Prototype. I have written a few books of fiction. I still have notebooks of characters I’ve never used. Visual Novel would be perfect for what I have in mind, or even Story Rich. The last one he mentions, Prototype, is interesting for down-the-line work. Once you get better and want to make a cool game through Unity or Unreal Engine, you can have your “first draft” here at RPG Maker to make sure the story is fluid and the bugs are worked out…
Watched the first video, then half of the next one. I’d give this a 6/10 for what I need. It started to get specific about battling, stats, and other math-related issues. I plan to use RPG Maker for a Visual Novel or Story Rich game, though. This might be useful later, but not right now…
