Hello People!
The first full album AI rendition I did was a bit more than a half year ago. It was Journey’s Escape album. I like the way it turned out. Click here to check it out.
There’s a learning curve to these projects. I hate to say it, but I rushed a lot of my early stuff. Since I’ve mostly done covers, I’d find the lyrics online, then copy and paste them. There wasn’t a lot of quality control at the beginning. In other words, LYRICS WOULD BE WRONG!! Go figure! Sometimes, there would be typos in the songs. Sometimes, there would be an added or subtracted verse. Other times, the lyrics would just be plain wrong! Even though I liked the way my Escape rendition turned out, there were a handful of mistakes. Later, when I listened to the actual album, I realized, “It doesn’t go that way!” Like I said, it only happened a few times, so it’s probably hardly noticeable. Of course, I like to change styles and genres, so those aren’t the differences I’m talking about.
The May project was Supertramp’s Breakfast in America, and that one went a little better. By the time June rolled around and I was working on Def Leppard’s Pyromania, I made sure I sat down with the actual songs and listened to them over and over to make sure the lyrics were consistent, and there were no skips of verses or choruses. I made sure the solos were in their proper places.
The first app I used to make AI music was Suno. This was back in January. I found a cheaper app called Sing, and I’m sure it uses the same Suno program. Early on, I ran into another problem. The Sing app cut off precisely at four minutes. Even if the lyrics were correct and the song sounded good, it was frustrating. Sometimes, a song was moments from fluidly finishing, then BAM! An abrupt stop to the song! It sucked, so I’d start over. Long songs, like Stairway to Heaven, there was no choice. I’d have to do two recordings, then splice the front end with the back.
I have no complaints with the Sing app. This is just part of life. Many, many times, there was no problem with the song at all, and I’d nail it on the first try. Other times, I’d get experimental. These are times when the Clunkers would arrive. Still, it’s worth it because the highs are higher than normal
I’ve been wanting to do this Clunker page since April. I’ve been putting it off. Besides Clunkers, I have Alt Versions. What’s this mean? Sometimes, I have songs that have nothing wrong with them. The lyrics worked out fine, the intro/ verse/ chorus/ solo/ outro parts went well, and the song didn’t cut off. Still, I’d have these songs I’d grade as a C+ or B- and I’m looking for something in the A range. Some of the songs I pass on soung better if I leave them alone for a few weeks.
A couple of months ago for reasons I’m not sure of, the Sing app started allowing longer songs. That’s refreshing. I was startled when one last seven minutes! The app states that there’s a five-minute cut off, but it doesn’t seem to be rigid.
I’ll give you some Clunkers and Alt Versions on this page. Like I said, I scrapped songs for having as little as one mistake, so it might be difficult for even me to remember what it was. The Alt Versions will be hear as well, and in a lot of cases, they’re just as good as whatever final version I wound up going with. I hope you enjoy!
Final note. The videos to these songs will be stripped down and basic. I don’t plan lyric videos, and I don’t plan to create new graphic images, although I might use stuff from my pic library. Rock on!!!
