dystopia of the modern era …
June 12, 2025
Holy shit! Biff Tannen, the rotten casino owner, ran for president and won! Who would’ve guessed that? I suppose the producers of Back to the Future saw it coming, but everyone else seems weirdly surprised! And? Biff is still “not the sharpest bulb” as he makes one stupid decision after another! Remember his flub? “Why don’t you make like a tree and get out of here!” That’s Biff for you! Total retard, but today’s Biff lives in the White House, has failed miserably with his tariffs and economic policies, then he decided to fulfill his promise of becoming a dictator! He federalized the Nation Guard and ordered hundreds of Marines to embed themselves in Los Angeles. It’s a shit show, to say the least.
America went through tough times during the Vietnam era, but we made it. We had wonderful artists, singers, and musicians who helped get us through that terrible period. There was a lot of social strife! Whole lot of protests, and people taking it to the streets. Those times are back. This page is dedicated to songs and music which help me cope with the situation we live in today. I’m a third-party kind of guy, and I have no clue how we’re plagued with morally bankrupt presidents. Actually, I have a good idea, but that’s a discussion for another place, another time.
I hope you enjoy the music. Some of it goes far back, and some more recent. Some of it is dead serious, and some of it meant to lighten our moods. I know Wacky Taffy used to like to post videos to the ol’ Maniac Nebula music page. Maybe she’ll show up and post something. Either way, Biff Tannen’s birthday is in a couple of days. He’s throwing a military parade for himself! Holy shit! I keep saying that over and over! I turn on the news and there’s always a new “holy shit” moment! Take care, you guys…

There’s something happening here
But what it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it’s time we stop
Children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
There’s battle lines being drawn
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
What a field day for the heat (Ooh ooh ooh)
A thousand people in the street (Ooh ooh ooh)
Singing songs and they carrying signs (Ooh ooh ooh)
Mostly say, “Hooray for our side” (Ooh ooh ooh)
It’s time we stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid
Step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
You better stop
Hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
You better stop
Now, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
You better stop
Children, what’s that sound?
Everybody look, what’s going down?
I’ve got you on the loose
I left you groovin’
I’ve got you on the beat
I left you broken
But won’t you take my place
Since long ago I wandered
Way out on the cliff
With the brilliance of an angel
So fly me
Courageous
So fly me
Courageous
Mother America
Is brandishing her weapons
She keeps me safe and warm
By threats and misconception
So if you break the chain
You’ll have to shake me
And if you break my heart
You’ll have to take me
Ooh-ooh lady, won’t ya’ take it easy?
Push me out of
Ooh-ooh, won’t ya’ take it easy, lady?
Push me out of
Ooh-ooh, won’t you take it easy on me?
Push me out of
So fly me
Courageous
I heard your whispers
From the bottom of the canyon
It’s not so hard to hide
The rattlesnake’s confusion
Wrap me high in the sky
Circle me with stallions
She flew from peak to peak
On freedom of an eagle
So fly me
Courageous
Fly me
Courageous
So fly me
Courageous
Hey neighbor, let me give you some advice
The Russians are about to pulverize us
In our sleep tonight
That is if the crazy Arabs
Or the riots don’t get us first
And the fire will rain down from the sky
The fire will rain down from the sky
People will die–People will die
People will die–People will die
But go ahead sleep tight in the beds
Remember what the wise man said
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear but fear itself
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
Temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
Hey little girl, won’t you come this way
Won’t you let me buy you candy or perhaps a chocolate shake
Or perhaps some nice cocaine, or perhaps a little kiss
Or perhaps a ride in my big car
Perhaps a ride in my big car
Won’t you make an old man happy
Won’t you make an old man happy
Won’t you let me show you paradise
(Don’t ask your mother for advice)
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear but fear itself
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
And the temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
If they don’t turn you into a junkie or a zombie on the street
If they don’t turn you into a yo-cat or a grinning Jesus freak
If they don’t take away your brains or turn your body inside out
If they don’t take away your passion with a color TV set
They’ll take away your heart and soul
They’ll take away your heart and soul
They’ll take away your heart and soul
They’ll take away your heart and soul
But remember what the wise man said
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear
There’s nothing to fear nothing to fear but fear itself
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
There’s nothing to fear (but fear itself)
And the temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
The temperature’s starting to drop now
Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death’s construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to Mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds…
Oh Lord yeah!
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait ’till their judgment day comes, yeah!
Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of Judgment, God is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings…
Oh Lord, yeah!
Sunshine go away today
I don’t feel much like dancing
Some man’s gone, he’s tried to run my life
Don’t know what he’s asking
He tells me I’d better get in line
Can’t hear what he’s saying
When I grow up, I’m going to make it mine
But these aren’t dues I been paying
How much does it cost, I’ll buy it
The time is all we’ve lost, I’ll try it
But he can’t even run his own life
I’ll be damned if he’ll run mine, Sunshine
Sunshine go away today
I don’t feel much like dancing
Some man’s gone, he’s tried to run my life
Don’t know what he’s asking
Working starts to make me wonder where
The fruits of what I do are going
He says in love and war all is fair
But he’s got cards he ain’t showing
How much does it cost, I’ll buy it
The time is all we’ve lost, I’ll try it
And he can’t even run his own life
I’ll be damned if he’ll run mine, Sunshine
Sunshine come on back another day
I promise you I’ll be singing
This old world, she’s gonna turn around
Brand new bells will be ringing
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Hoo, they’re red, white and blue
And when the band plays “Hail to the chief”
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no senator’s son, son
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no furtunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don’t they help themselves, Lord?
But when the taxman come to the door
Lord, the house lookin’ like a rummage sale, yeah
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no millionaire’s son, no, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate one, no
Yeah-yeah, some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Hoo, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask ’em, “How much should we give?”
Hoo, they only answer, “More, more, more, more”
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no military son, son, Lord
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate one, one
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
I ain’t no fortunate son, no, no, no
It ain’t me, it ain’t me
