6/18/25 … Owners of Dodgers to buy Lakers …

John, Jose, & Eddie on the way to SoFi Stadium to watch Rams vs Raiders

in San Diego the week after Al Davis passed away

Intro …

4/24/2025

There’s a lot of things in life that bring us together. One of my favorites is sports. When I was six years old, one of my sisters wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader after we watched a movie about them on TV. I was young and impressionable, so I soon became a Cowboys fan even before I understood the rules of football. Family members started buying me their merch for birthdays and Christmas. I also didn’t understand geography. The LA Rams played at the Big A, and they were our local pro team. Once I got old enough to understand this, I rooted for all the locals. I became a Lakers fan in basketball, a Dodgers and Angels fan in baseball, and I came to like the Kings and Ducks in hockey.

All these years later, sports is still an important part of my life. Today is the NFL draft. It’s been a big part of my life since I was younger. Before the internet, I used to wake up early on the day of the draft to buy USA Today or another newspaper to get the scoop on all the rumors, projections, trades, and everything else. I’ve been watching the draft live on ESPN since 1991 when the Cowboys selected Russell Maryland first overall. It’s something I look forward to.

Last year, I started learning about web design. One of my first projects was a page called “Cowboys vs Rams”, but I let it expire last month. My bro is the other guy who follows the draft. We’ve watched it together for many years at various bars. I’m starting this sports blog to continue with the “Cowboys vs Rams” idea, but to expand it to other teams, and other sports. I will have a pics page where I reflect on good times I’ve had with people at stadiums, bars, and other places.

My thoughts on the 2025 draft…

This seems to be the growing consensus in top 4 picks:

1. Cam Ward, QB, Titans
2. Travis Hunter, WR/ CB, Browns
3. Abdul Carter, Edge, Giants
4. Will Campbell, OT, Patriots
5. Jax will likely go OT, but many think RB, Ashton Jeanty

Titans & Patriots are firm with their picks, though I heard a couple of guys say the Patriots should pick Jeanty

A couple of months ago, Jeanty was mocked to Dallas at #12, but his stock has risen and now it looks like they’d have to trade into top 5 to get him

If Jeanty falls to the Raiders at #6, they’ll pick him

If Dallas stays at #12, here’s my top 5 expected for them:

1. WR, Tetairoa McMillon
2. WR, Matthew Golden
3. RB, Omarion Hampton
4. OL, Tyler Booker (especially if they trade down)
5. RB, Ashton Jeanty (if they trade up)

This is not in order of who I want most, because that would be Jeanty. It’s based on who will likely be available, unless they trade.

Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur, was projected at #2 or #3, but his stock has fallen. Some say #9 (Saints) or #21 (Steelers). Las Vegas odds has 2.5 as the over/under for QBs drafted in round 1. One riser is QB Jaxson Dart. Some say the Rams might trade down so Browns or Giants can re-enter 1st round to draft Sanders or Dart (if they pass on Sanders in top 5) …. 🏈
